Textile Care Guide
These pieces are living textiles. Care for them accordingly.
Washing
Hand wash in cold water, or machine wash on a gentle cycle. Use mild soap- nothing harsh, nothing with bleach. Turn your piece inside out before washing to protect the surface and the dye. Wash dark and indigo pieces separately for the first few washes. Some colors release is natural. it is not a flaw but evidence of the process.
Drying
Do not wring or twist. Gently press the water out, then lay flat or hang to air dry in the shade. Keep away from direct sunlight, artificial light and humidity. All of which affect color over time.
Storing
Fold rather than hang to prevent stretching. Store in a cool, ventilated space with cotton garment cover. These pieces deserve considered storage, not a rushed corner of a wardrobe.
Daily Handling
Handle with clean, dry hands. Natural oils, lotions fragrances. hair spray, and cosmetics all affect the dye. Keep pieces away from rough surfaces than can sang or pull the weave.
Ironing
Iron on the reverse side only, on a low to medium heat. Let the textile cool before folding or wearing.
Adire is hand-dyed, intentionally made, and designed to be lived in. Not preserved behind glass. With the right care, these pieces age beautifully. While carrying history forward.
